China car rentals

Situated in the East of Asia, China is one of the world’s most treasured tourist destinations. Home to Xian’s Terracotta Army and the Great Wall, China is a common favorite amongst Canadians who wish to explore historical monuments, vast natural landscapes and even some of the world’s most modern and vibrant cities.

Getting there

There are approximately 50 million tourists that visit China each year, with most flying to one of the country’s large international airports such as Shanghai PuDong. Due to such a large amount of visitors flocking to China throughout the year, you will find it is very simple to find a flight from Canada, especially since airlines such as Air Canada connect frequently to Beijing and Shanghai from Vancouver and Toronto.

Sightsee with car rental

As the airports handle such a large number of passengers each year, when you arrive at the airport you will find a plethora of facilities are available for your convenience. For instance: there are plenty of car rental desks, which are led by providers such as Hertz and Avis; a wealth of food and retail outlets; plenty of visitor information points; and a large number of ticketing desks.

If like many tourists, you wish to explore both China’s major cities and rural villages, you will find that car rental is a great way to do so. You should however note, that unless you have a local driver’s license you will not actually be allowed to drive, as an international or Canadian driving license will not be valid here. Therefore, when hiring a car you will often be allocated a personal driver, which is actually a good thing because English road signs are scarce and you will instead be able to focus purely on sightseeing.

Top tourist sights

Most of the best deals can be obtained when you compare car hire in advance of your trip. This means that you will often obtain a better value, enabling you to have more money leftover to explore some of the countries top sights such as the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
