Being located near the sea, as well as other interesting countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Montenegro, there are many opportunities to try out. Canadian tourists will love the sandy beaches at Dubrovnik and the party towns of Pula.

Best tourist attractions

Zagreb, the capital, has a long and wonderful history and with an eclectic mix of modern and ancient buildings, it’s one of the prettiest cities in the whole of Europe. Split is famous for its sailing boats and ferry rides up the coast. Pula is a beautiful place and is close to Italy, so trips to the fashion houses aren’t uncommon.

The Krka National Park is a wonderful, natural place to see, where hiking, trails and mountain biking is popular. It’s important to understand that Croatia is a very liberal country when it comes to nudity and expect to see lots of flesh on the beaches, particularly Hvar and the small island of Rab.

Best time to stay

With summer temperatures reaching 39 degrees Celsius, it’s a great place to go for a suntan, although the humidity can be very high. The winters are very cold, although inland on the mountains; it’s a great place to go skiing and snowboarding.

The springtime is a good mix of heat and quietness, as many tourists from Europe head to Croatia to take advantage of the favorable currency exchange rates from the Euro.
