Cyprus car rental
From the beautiful city of Nicosia to the manic party region of Ayia Napa, Cyprus is visited by people of all ages. Canadian travelers have begun arriving at the island, looking for some summer sun, beautiful beaches and friendly atmosphere. The island is located south of Turkey and is in the Mediterranean Sea, meaning it has warm waters and is in the cocoon of the EU.

The Troodos Mountains and the Akamas Peninsula beg to be explored, and it’s so much easier in via car rental. Having the benefit of ice-cold air conditioning in the car is a welcomed retreat from the intensity of the summer sun. There are many different types of hire cars available to rent, although with the rockiness of some of the areas, an SUV might be a good choice.
Tourist attractions
Depending on your preference for your European holiday, there are either romantic cities, with Venetian walls, an abundance of cafés, bars and shopping districts, or there are the coastal regions that are family friendly but still feature enough nightlife to satisfy partygoers.
There are UNESCO sites, mountains, hiking trails, camel rides and go-karting tracks. The Hamam Omerye Bath, Roman ruins and New Stone Age relics are fantastic to see, but for many Canadian travelers, the golden sands and the bathwater-hot sea is good enough to relax and top up the tan.
Best time to travel
As most of the islanders work six months of the year, it’s best to go during the high season of May to September. The bars, restaurants, hotels and nightclubs all spring into action and offer a well-rounded holiday. There are no visa requirements when heading to Cyprus and no entrance fees for Canadian tourists.
