Czech Republic car rental
The Czech Republic might not be Canadians’ first choice among European destinations but there are many things to do and see in the Czech. The stunning country has mountains, vibrant cities, beautiful people and good, hearty food. Using car rental is a good way to see the most of the country, and due to the Schengen Agreement, passage to neighboring countries is allowed without visas.
Compare car rental before you leave Canada to make sure you get the best prices. Direct flights from Vancouver, Quebec and Toronto are sometimes available during the summer, although a quick stop in Munich, Paris or London is usually required but breaks up the flight nicely.
Tourist attractions
Brno is the wonderful city that holds host to the Moto GP Motorcycling Championship. The track is tight and twisty, similar to the roads from Prague to Brno, and draws hundreds of thousands of tourists. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the whole world, not just Europe, and is a must-visit place.
The friendly locals will direct you to attractions that are worth seeing, but the Bohemian Paradise and the Lakes under Palava should also be on your to-do list. Krkonose is the best place for skiing, although it is expensive. Marianske Lazne, the spa town, is popular with Germans and Russians, and is a good place to unwind.
Best time to travel
As the winters are bitterly cold, it mostly preferred to go to the Czech Republic in the summer, but coming from Canada the snow and ice might not be too much of a bother. The summers are warm and dry, but it’s doubtful you’ll get a suntan. If you like beer, the summer is a good time to go as there are pub crawls, which see groups of people hopping from one bar to the next and usually entails drums and trumpets.
