French Polynesia is a stunning archipelago located in the South Pacific Ocean, with the main island being Tahiti. The island is very isolated and is paradise. Recently many Canadians have begun visiting French Polynesia regularly as it offers tourists a beautiful and relaxing place for a vacation. It is possible to fly to the islands from Canada via Los Angeles and there are an increasing number of flights every year.
Hotspots
As an island in the middle of the ocean you can expect to find many wonderful beaches on Tahiti. The most famous beach area is Rangiroa, which is also a hotspot for diving and surfing. There are many other beaches too but this is one is a must see.
Another great place to visit the famous island of Hiva Oa, which is full of some amazing cultural sites. The island has some amazing and captivating monuments that date back thousands of years. In the larger towns, there are some great museums to give insight into the history of the island.
Island climate
French Polynesia is always warm and has two main seasons. There is a dry season and a wet season that is slightly shorter than the dry season. The wet season starts in November and finishes around March/April.
French Polynesia’s roads
The roads on the island are actually surprisingly good. It is possible to compare car rental before arriving on the island, which can save a lot of headaches. The larger roads are signposted and well looked after but be cautious of the local drivers who don’t always obey road rules.
