Greece is a country full of surprises. It boasts historic sites, mountains, beaches and unspoiled countryside. The capital city of Athens is home to some wonderful historic sites including the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Roman Agora and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. There is also a good array of museums such as the National Archeological Museum. The city also has a lively nightlife scene, many restaurants, and some nice places to shop. Climate

Greece has Mediterranean climate. The majority of the year is warm and the winters although rainy are fairly mild. The best time of the year to go is the start of summer when temperatures are just warming up and are pleasant. Mid summer is the height of tourist season and can become extremely crowded.

The majority of the larger roads in Greece have signs in both Greek and English which making life easier for those that opt for car rental. As long as you have extensive driving experience, you should be able to handle driving around Greece, though driving can be much more stressful than back home in Canada.
