Malaysia Car rentals
Most Canadian visitors headed to Malaysia will arrive at the ultra modern Kuala Lumpur International Airport where car rental is available from all the international companies. The country is well geared-up for welcoming visitors who choose to have the convenience of the car rental for a vacation. Driving is easy and although the capital does get clogged up during the rush hour, the road traffic outside of Kuala Lumpur is generally light.
Highlights
Malaysia is equatorial and as such has a wealth of natural rainforest and numerous attractions apart from the bright lights of the capital of Kuala Lumpur. The city is a busy commercial centre that has some good attractions such as the Petronas Towers, great cuisine and fine shopping in places such as Heritage Walk, and the Golden Triangle. Outside of the capital, life is less hectic and a tour may well take the visitor east and to the resorts of the South China Sea or the mountains of the Cameron highlands.
To the east of mainland Malaysia (West Malaysia) is the fantastic state of Terengganu, but there is also the mountainous state of Sarawak, which is part of the island of Borneo. Motorists looking to see this part of Malaysia would fly to Kuching and grab a car rental from that location.
Exploring by car
Malaysia can be easily explored by car from any of the major cities. Hotels are geared-up to provide car rental services so Canadian visitors will have no trouble in booking a vehicle. There are plenty of options so taking the opportunity to compare car rental rates and deals would be worth the time. Unfortunately none of the deals will offer anything other than a right-hand drive vehicle, so that is something Candian motorists have to content with. Driving laws are much the same as those at home, but there are quite a few toll roads.
Tourist season and weather
This is an equatorial country where it is generally hot and humid, but in the coastal areas, the weather offers more sunshine than the inland rainforest areas. Both parts of Malaysia see monsoon periods, so travelers may prefer October to February when chances of showers are reduced.
