Mexico Car Rentals

Car rental can be picked up at most of the airports which are connected directly to Canada and that would include Mexico City and Cancun. There are the regular operators and these would be the best ones to choose when making a car rental comparison. Driving in Mexico could be described as creative, but in all it is a safe place to go, especially in the bigger resorts.

Highlights

Be it the Maya ruins on the peninsula north of Cancun, the vibrant casinos of Acapulco or the historical landmarks of the capital in Mexico City, there is no shortage of highlights in this country. The main square in the center of Mexico City is the third largest worldwide, and it has a national flag flying to match. The National Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral are places in the capital which travelers from Canada like to see.

Of the coastal resorts the favorite location is on the Caribbean coast, with Cancun developing a great following from visitors from the north. It has some great vacation hotels, along with the excellent beaches of the Playa del Carmen and the Isla Cozumel. This is luxurious but affordable holiday living. However, on the other coast, in Acapulco, there are the more sophisticated and slightly more up market tourist developments. The casinos remain a draw for those from winters cooler climes, making this southerly neighbor a great place to go in January.

Exploring By car

Mexico is not a difficult place to drive if it were not for the local motorists who can be a little unpredictable. But generally taking a car for the longer distance drives is safe enough. Mexico City should be avoided as there is the potential for all sorts of mishaps, but a holiday car rental in Cancun or from Monterey is good and provides the option for an independent schedule.

Tourist Season and Weather

The country has a regular temperate climate in most parts, but in the higher elevations such as Mexico City it does get cooler, especially at night. The Caribbean resorts are the warmest with year round balmy conditions. If there is a generalization for the weather in Mexico that would be that the best time is between May and October. But the climate is very diverse and in this sort of region it is as well to compare the different locations to decide on when to make the trip.
