Netherlands Antilles car rentals
With stunning turquoise seas, white sand beaches and diverse culture, it is no wonder why thousands of Canadians visit these stunning Caribbean islands each year. Consisting of six equally beautiful islands, each has its own unique charm and any one of them makes for a great sun-filled holiday. Canadians can easily arrive on any island with a short stop over in a major US air hub.
Highlights
The Lesser Antilles of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are the most well known of the islands and are excellent for diving, laying around on the beach and experiencing the unique Dutch influenced culture. The Natural Pool and rock formations throughout the Arikok National Park are favourites in Aruba, while water sports are the main draw for visiting Bonaire. Curacao is famous for its culture and Boca caves.
Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Marteen make up the Leeward Islands. The first two are renowned for their ecosystems and stunning volcanic scenery and less known for their beaches. Sint Marteen is the most popular of the three and boasts some of the Caribbean’s most stunning beaches including Maho Bay and Mullet Bay. Pic du Paradis is the island’s highest point where stunning views can be seen.
Exploring by car
Car rental is an ideal way to explore the Lesser Antilles where the roads are in good condition. Car rental is also great throughout Sint Marteen however the other Leeward Islands’ roads are not as good. Regardless of which island is visited, drivers should always be cautious of local motorists, who tend to ignore most laws.
Tourist season and weather
Most Canadians choose to visit in the winter months to avoid the cold weather back home. This is the most ideal time to visit when the weather is at its best, but also when prices are at their premium. Between July and October is hurricane season and most chose to avoid visiting then.
