Norway

Norway car rentals

This fantastic Scandinavian country is known to be one of the most beautiful in the world and sees many Canadian tourists each year. Known for its stunning scenery and rich culture, Canadians will find Norway is well worth the journey via most major European air hubs.

Highlights

Oslo is the largest and most visited city and is also where the country’s main air hub is located. Many Canadians spend a few days here before venturing into other areas due to its incredible museums, Royal Palace and Opera House. Within a short drive tourists will arrive in the stunning mountainous region of Jotunheimen where several glaciers and cliffs can be seen.

Another main draw are the stunning deep fjords that are found near Sognefjorde, which is where Europe’s longest fjord (Nærøyfjord) is located. Bergen is also a favorite and well worth visiting and is the gateway to the fjords. This is where the most vibrant culture scene and nightlife can be found as well as some fantastic live music.

Exploring by car

A rental car is a great way to explore the country and visit its more remote areas. Within the cities there can be heavy traffic, however outside of the city centres you will find excellent road conditions, making it ideal to arrange a car rental. Although car rental is quite expensive in Norway, Canadians will find many well-known agents and can easily compare car rental prices.

Tourist season and weather

The climate here is temperate. However, it can get quite cold in the winter. July and August have the highest temperatures and are the most popular months amongst Canadian visitors. From May to September the flowers are in bloom resulting in some stunning scenery, while the winter months can be quite brutal in the far north.
